This category includes various press, forming and punch alloy tool steels where open atmosphere (scale permitted) or vacuum furnaces (no scale) to meet Customer requirements. Tool steels such as A2 and D2 are typically heat treated overnight if Atlantic Heat Treating gets a pick-up call before 10AM. Large pieces, that require a longer soak time, may take two days to be hardened. Customers should specify whether an open atmosphere furnace can be used or a vacuum furnace with the number of tempers required.
