Vacuum Heat Treatment
Vacuum heat treating is typically done to fast-quench alloy steels in a vacuum nitrogen atmosphere to prevent discolouration and distortion. A more consistent hardness can be obtained through the entire component being heat treated too. Vacuum furnaces can also be used to heat material to high hardening temperatures and to temper material exact hardness required in the same furnace. Single, double and triple temper processes can be specified to match ASM or SAE requirements for the alloy being heat treated. These furnaces can also be used for vacuum furnace brazing combining the brazing and heat-treating processes in one load.
